Bernard Dufour Original Oil on Canvas Mediterranean Scene circa 1950-1960

A delightful original oil on canvas by the French artist BERNARD DUFOUR, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner.
The unnamed painting (circa 1950 -1960) depicts a Mediterranean scene, with tall houses with wrought iron balconies some with draped washing and a profusion of flower pots. A bicycle resting lazily against the building waiting for the owners return.
Visible painting - W/37cm H/45cm.
The painting was originally sold in Paris auction 2015 and recently acquired from house clearance in UK. It was in a poor quality homemade frame, removed from its original stretcher.
We have had it professionally stretched and framed in classic styled dark wood with gilt trim, glass fronted - W/56cm H/64cm.
BERNARD DUFOUR, is a French artist, born on the 21st September 1922 in Paris.
He started exhibiting abstracts in France in 1948, but after 1960 turned to figurative work and self portraits, and nude studies.
Dufour opened a studio in 1961 in Foissac, where he lived; also a photographer, ceramicist and print maker, as well as having written four books of artistic notes and memoirs.
